PRDnationwide, an Australian real estate leader, recently released the PRD Green Guide – Residential Real Estate 2018. Through this research project, PRDnationwide found that sustainable buildings outperform their conventional competitors in all relevant areas – environmentally, socially and financially. Further research also found that houses with sustainable features achieve the most competitive market price.
Sustainable features for residential properties mean different things to different people. In this investigation, PRDnationwide considered the function and layout of the utilised space, the health and safety of occupants, how comfortable occupants were, the cost to occupants and the lifespan of the building.
This comprehensive study, conducted through the Australia Research Council Linkage Project and funded by the Australian Federal Government, took over three years to complete and involved 215 houses, of which 22 had sustainable features.
