At a time when period products innovation is one of the fastest growing niches in the femtech space, organic tampon creator OHNE is setting out to change the way women approach their menstrual cycle. Founded by friends Nikki Michelsen and Leah Remry-Peploe, OHNE recently announced that it has raised investment from the founders of Matches Fashion and the founders of online sex shop, Lovehoney.

The start-up was founded in 2018 in part to remove the stigmas and taboos surrounding periods. “We were tired of companies putting out period product advertising which claimed to de-stigmatise menstruation but never actually discussed it. We were incredibly frustrated by the way that period products have historically been marketed to women and horrified to learn the full ingredients put into most mainstream period products,” explained Michelsen.

The founders plan to use the funding to expand its product range to include 100% organic and biodegradable pads, launch a new app to enable consumers to track their cycle and product delivery, as well as grow the team.
