In an article for Design Week, Ruth Wassermann. Design director at Made.com, looks at what will happen in furniture design over the next 12 months. According to Wassermann, the popularity of natural materials will keep growing, while timbers in natural finishes will be joined by woven materials, cane and bamboo, the finishes of which will become more casual and less polished.

Wassermann also states that the mid-century look that has been popular for some years is starting to make way for a new retro-inspired look inspired by the bold shapes and finishes of the 1970s,
