The Gauteng City Region Observatory’s research publication entitled ‘Green Infrastructure in the City Region’ provides an introduction to the concept and value of green infrastructure. An awarded submission in the 2017/18 AfriSam-SAIA Award, the project adopted a range of methods and ways of presenting its research, in order to make it accessible to a wide audience.

“The process of putting together this framework was firstly, to understand what other people around the country have done; how have other people thought about putting together a green infrastructure approach for municipalities – but also, at the same time, to understand how local municipalities and officials here (in the Gauteng City Region) would be able to adopt that type of approach,” said co-author and researcher, Christina Culwick.
